Ginger Bread Biscuits - Make your own.

Gather the family or friends and make your own gingerbread Christmas decorations or Cookies. These cute little cookies are a fun way to decorate your tree with the kids.

There’s no other cookie that shouts “Christmas!” more than the gingerbread Cookies. Its become a tradition of making shaped gingerbread cookies. I must admit it gives me great pleasure in watching my daughter smile and enjoying making and eating the ginger bread cookies. There are many easy to follow recipes on how to make and decorate your own ginger bread shape cookies. I make these cookies every year and decided it was high time I shared the recipe below, just to throw a little something different out there to spread a little Christmas cheer!

Ingredients
75g of Softened butter, 50g of caster sugar, ½ tsp Bicarb of Soda 50g golden syrup 2 egg yolks 250g plain flour ½ tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp ground ginger Beat the softened butter with the caster sugar until creamy. Stir in bicarb of soda, golden syrup and the egg yolks. Sift in plain flour, cinnamon and ginger. Beat together with a wooden spoon. Shape into balls, knead until the dough is firm then chill for 30 minutes. Roll out into small balls. Cut out trees with a 7cm cutter. Bake on Greased or use Parchment paper on the baking Tray 10/12 mins. Heat oven 180c / Fan 160c/ Gas Mark 4.
I believe this is a yummy delicious recipe, but you can substitute some of the ingredients and tailor it to your taste buds.

Decorate with icing.
There are so many ways to decorate your cookies. You can use different colours and decorate them however you want, and Tad Dah! You have yourself some beautifully decorated tasty cookies.

Keep the cookies in an air tight container at room temperature and they should last about 10 days.
Can you freeze cookies?
If you wrap the cookies up so they are air tight you can freeze them for approximately 2 months. Try to make sure that you freeze them with out icing. So, prepare a batch of plain cookies.

I really think that Cookies are versatile and easy to make. It fun, yummy, smells delicious and pleasing on the eye. What more could you ask? As you can see there are so many different shapes and patterns you can make. Its just great!
